25% of voters in Gagauzia cast their ballots by noon

More than 25% of the people eligible to vote in Gagauzia have taken part in the elections by noon. At some of the polling places, the voter turnout was 34%, IPN reports.

The head of the Comrat Electoral Commission Valentin Cara told a news conference that the voters are rather active. The voter turnout in Comrat  district at noon was 27.7%, in Vulcanesti – 24.6%, while in Ceadir-Lunga – 24%. Over 1,700 voters were put on additional lists. 

Nince complaints submitted in the first half of the day are to be exmained by the members of the Commission in a meeting. At a polling place in Comrat, about 100 ballots went missing. Asked to comment on the incident, Valentin Cara said the competent bodies were informed about it and are to pronounce on this case.

Another incident happened in Dezghingea village, where the voting stamp was torn up. The members of the electoral office replaced it and the Electoral Commission notified the law enforcement bodies of this.

A candidate for the post of Governor placed a message on the Internet, saying the representatives of another candidate give by 300 lei to the electors for their vote.

As many as 105,000 people with the right to vote are expected to cast theri ballots today. The 65 polling places established for these elections will work until 9pm. For the elections to be validated, the voter turnout must be minimum 50% of the voter rolls.
