During four hours of the opening of the document issuing sections, there were issued 245 temporary identity cards. In most of the cases, the people argued that they lost their identity cards, IPN reports.
According to the Information Resources Center “Registru”, compared with the situation in the 2010 parliamentary elections, the number of applicants is lower. Between 7am and 11am, the people then asked for 360 temporary identity cards. In 2010, the largest number of applications for such identity cards were submitted between 11am and 5pm.
The document issuing sections issue free temporary identity cards to people eligible to vote, at request. This applies to people with invalid identification papers, including holders of Soviet-type passports who, for certain reasons, didn’t get the identity card, and to people whose papers were lost or stolen or who didn’t have identification papers earlier.
All the document issuing sections of the country have longer working hours today, from 7am until 9pm.
