Update: The number of persons arrested as a result of searches performed at the Sculeni and Leuseni customs posts on November 1 rose to 24. These include 13 customs inspectors, three border police officers, four economic operators and four drivers. The operation, conducted by the National Anticorruption Center, the Border Police and the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office, continues.
Fourteen persons, ten of whom are customs officers, while four are representatives of business entities, were arrested on November 1 following searches carried out at the Sculeni and Leuseni customs posts. Press officer of the National Anticorruption Center Angela Starinski has told IPN that those arrested are suspected of acts of corruption and the operation goes on.
The Sculeni and Leuseni customs posts were closed for a period, but now resumed work.
