23 residential institutions to be reorganized or liquidated by 2015
During three years, until 2015 inclusive, 23 residential institutions in Moldova, mostly boarding schools, will be reorganized or liquidated under the Residential Child Care System Reform, Info-Prim Neo reports
In 2012, six such institutions have been closed.
The Ministry of Education says that the institutions to undergo reorganization or liquidation accommodate 1,235 children, who will be integrated into their biological families or placed in foster homes.
The Ministry, in partnership with UNICEF and territorial employment offices, is analyzing the profile and professional skills of the personnel at the residential institutions in question for their potential re-employment.
Since its launch in 2007, 11 residential institutions were closed and one was reorganized to a social service complex as part of the Residential Child Care System Reform.
