2/3 of schools prepared to begin new school year
At present 971 pre-higher education institutions of Moldova, i.e. 65% of the total number of schools are ready to begin the new school year.
On Tuesday, July 8 at the meeting with central specialized bodies, heads of raions and heads of education departments, Vasile Tarlev said that he is dissatisfied with the fact that in some administrative-territorial units the repair works are poor, although there is only a month till the school year begins.
According to him, the issue of capital school repairs is actual (948 in all). At present, out of 257 schools needing roof repairing, works were performed in only 153; of 82 sport rooms, only 48 were repaired and only in 200 schools out of 347 the heating systems were repaired. Of MDL 92 mln planned for this works only 63% or about MDL 59 mln were turned to good account.
According to Government data, the administrative-territorial units have the necessary resources for finishing the works. These resources amount to MDL 200 mln – in the raion budgets and over MDL 188 mln – in the local budgets. In this context the Government qualified as unjustified the numerous requests of the school principles, mayors of communes and authorities of the local public administration, Parliament and Government regarding supplementary allocation of resources from the Reserve Fund.
At the moment, the works were fully finished in Anenii Noi, Cahul, Briceni, Calarasi, Floresti, Stefan Voda, and in Ocnita, Basarabeasca, Criuleni and Nisporeni the repair works are 80% finished.
