A serious traffic accident occurred at the intersection of the Chisinau streets Ismail and Calea Basarabiei in the afternoon of September 8. A 22-year-old motorcyclist collided violently with a truck and died on the spot.

Press officer of the Chisinau Police Division Natalia Stati has told IPN that the circumstances of the accident are not yet known. The young man died at the scene as a result of his injuries.

A criminal case was started over violation of traffic rules that resulted in death, which carries a penalty of three to seven years in jail and ban on driving for a period of up to four years.
