The number of bomb scares in the first six months of this year rose by 42% compared with the corresponding period last year. There were reported 27 bomb threats that all turned out to be hoaxes. Sixteen callers were identified. There were started 22 criminal cases, IPN reports, quoting a police report.

In January-June, the police recorded 501 contraventions over deliberate false calls for specialized services. As a result, the courts of law imposed 165 fines totaling over 255,000 lei. Three cases were dismissed, while 333 are being examined by courts.

The 1,027 road accidents that occurred in the period resulted in 93 deaths and 1,171 persons injured. As many as 374 offenses were committed by minors or with their involvement, an increase of 38% compared with the first six months of 2020.
