The Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) will consider allotting 218,000 lei from its reserve fund to fix up the recreational area in Vadul lui Voda town, as announced by CMC chair Eduard Musuc during a field work visit on September 4, Info-Prim Neo reports. The money will be mainly used to pump out floodwaters and feed the staff engaged in disaster relief efforts. According to Musuc, the Council will also consider allocating an additional 350,000 lei to restore the dike over the Nistru. Yet, Vadul lui Voda Mayor Iurie Onofriiciuc said the money will hardly cover the real costs, as the works require at least 2 million lei, including 1 million lei for revamping the damaged roads. Onofriiciuc has also expressed dissatisfaction with the way the Green Spaces Agency disinfects the zone. He says that too much water and chemical substances are used in vain. The 2008 reserve fund was voted by the Council to contain a total of 15 million lei for unexpected expenses and emergencies. So far the reserve fund has disbursed 10.6 million lei for dealing with the effects of floods in the suburban town of Vadul lui Voda. With the reserve fund two-thirds depleted, Musuc promised to suggest augmenting it with an extra 3 million lei when the Council meets next time.
