A number of 21 polling places will be established in Moldova for the November 2 presidential elections of Romania. Four of them will be opened in Chisinau. The coming elections were discussed in the program “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.

The program’s permanent invitee, Romanian media analyst Cristian Tabara said the Romanian citizens who want to vote on Moldova’s territory, besides presenting the identity card or the passport, must sign a statement pledging not to vote elsewhere.

Political analyst Roman Mihaes said that a sufficient number of polling places will be established this year, unlike four years ago, when the Moldovans holding Romanian nationality queued up at the Embassy of Romania to cast their ballots. “I think that 30-40% of the Moldovans holding Romanian nationality will take part in the Romanian presidential elections this year,” he stated.

Vice director of the Institute of Legal and Political Research of the Academy of Sciences Victor Juc considers the current Prime Minister of Romania is a leader in the election campaign because he is massively present in the mass media and comes to Moldova with large sums of money, unlike the other candidates for the presidency in Romania.

Mihai Cernencu, department head at the Moldova Free International University, considers that Victor Ponta was more visible in the public area and switched over from words to deeds. “Besides Mister Ponta, there are 13 more candidates. This election campaign was overshadowed by the inspections carried out by the National Anticorruption Directorate. Compared with the others, Ponta is an incontestable leader,” he said.
