the total deaths. Malign tumors were to blame for 15.1%,
digestive system diseases for 8.6%, accidents, poisonings,
and traumas for 7.4%, respiratory system diseases for 4.4%,
and 6.0% of deaths are ascribed to other causes.

Infant Deaths – 280*
The number of children who died under 1 year of age
in this period rose by 13 cases from the similar period
last year. Most cases were registered in Chisinau (89),
followed by Balti (17), Causeni (13) and Floresti (11).

Marriages – 19319*
The number of marriages rose by 7.1%. Most marriages
were registered in Chisinau (5061), followed by Gagauzia (911),
Balti (821) and Orhei (800). The districts with the lowest
number of marriages registered were Basarabeasca (132),
Donduseni (158) and Soldanesti (179).

Divorces – 8141*
The number of divorces rose by 4.5%. Most divorces were
reported in Chisinau (1995), followed by Balti (318) and
Anenii Noi (311). The districts with the lowest number of
divorces were Leova (52), Dubasari (71) and Basarabeasca (73).
