2014 in numbers: ECONOMY

Exports – $1.7377 billion*
Exports dropped by 0.2% on the same period last
year. Most exports went to the EU – 52.1%
(45.2% last year). CIS countries accounted for
32.8% of Moldova's exports (39.6% last year).
This year, exports dropped to Russia (-29.2%),
Turkey (-23.6%), Ukraine (-16.3%), Poland (-24.0%),
Hungary (-64.1%), New Zealand (-11.8%).
Most exported goods included grains, vegetal oils,
sugar, honey etc.

Imports – $3.8658 billion*
Imports dropped by 2.6% on the same period last
year. Most imports came from the EU – 49.5%
(44.7% in 2013). CIS countries accounted for
26.9% of Moldova's imports (30.4% in 2013).
Imports rose from Romania (+19.3%), Germany
(+10.3%), Italy (+7.1%), Poland (+12.9%), and
South Korea (+28.0%). At the same time, imports
dropped from Ukraine (-13.6%), Turkey (-23.2%),
Russia (-11.5%), Belarus (-26.7%), Israel (-61.9%),
Bulgaria (-15.4%). Largest imports included
specialized equipment for specific industries (+27.3%),
non-ferrous metals (+2.4 times) medical and

pharmaceutical products (+7.8%) etc.

Average salary– 4,267.7 lei*
Gross average salary earnings rose 13.5% on last
year. In the budget-funded jobs, it represented
3,595.8 lei (+12% from last year). In the real
economy, it rose +14.1% to 4,540.1 lei.

Agricultural production – 18.9332 billion lei*
Gross agriculture production rose 8.6% on last
year. The increase was due to a 12.4% rise in
vegetal production and a 2.5% rise in animal
production.

Goods shipped – 9,957,800 tonnes*
The amount of goods carried by rail, auto, river and
air transport rose 6.8% on last year.
