The year 2013 is an important one for Moldova as the Association Agreement with the EU is likely to be initialed at the Vilnius EaP Summit on November 26. Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Eugen Carpov said the year is also important for the Transnistrian conflict settlement process. He voiced hope that the Transnistrian officials will realize that all the residents of Moldova will benefit from these processes, no matter on what bank of the Nistru River they live.
In an interview for IPN, Eugen Carpov said the authorities expect that the Association Agreement with the EU, which includes the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement, will be initialed in Vilnius and that the European Union will give its consent to liberalizing the visa regime.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the country is now performing the last preparations for this event that will represent a switchover to a qualitatively new stage in the relations with the EU. He said the Transnistrian officials should realize that all the inhabitants of Moldova will benefit from these processes, regardless of the place where they are, in Tiraspol, Comrat, Orhei or Chisinau.
