2012 declared Ion and Doina Aldea-Teodorovici Year

Parliament adopted a motion declaring 2012 the Year of Ion and Doina Aldea-Teodorovici, Info-Prim Neo reports. Deputy Minister of Culture Gheorghe Postica recalled that 2012 marks 20 years since the death of “the two twin hearts, two of the greatest figures of Romanian culture and music”. “They sang everything that’s beautiful and sacred – the parents’ home, national dignity, the Romanian language, national ideals”, said Gheorghe Postica. “Declaring 2012 the Ion and Doina Aldea-Teodorovici Year will have a beneficial social and moral impact on the young generation in educating patriotism, proper civic attitude and recognizing the valuable contribution of generations that gained the independence and kept the national symbols”, said the deputy minister. A series of cultural events will be organized during the year to promote the music of Ion and Doina Aldea-Teodorovici. The Ministry of Culture will prepare a plan and will present it for approval to the Government. Ion and Doina Aldea-Teodorovici died as a result of a traffic accident near Cosereni in Romanin in December 1992. They were awarded the Order of the Republic post-posthumously in 1993.
