Teleradio-Moldova Company (TRM) retakes the idea of launching TV channel Moldova 2 and resuming the program “Luceafarul”. Over 66 million lei are earmarked for these actions by the institution’s draft budget for 2008 approved on Thursday, August 9, by the Supervisory Board of TRM. The Company’s administration explains that Moldova 2 programs will be orientated to the public in terms of culture and intelligence. The target group however, will be the youth. The channel’s program list will include entertaining programs, ethical and educational debates, quiz shows, news and other programs. The goal of the program “Luceafarul” is to inform, to educate and to promote cultural values, as well as to appreciate the Moldovan cultural patronage and to use spiritual issue for broadening the listeners’ cultural worldview. Two members of the SB – Veaceslav Ionita and Igor Munteanu voted against including these projects in the draft budget for the next year. According to Ionita, launching the two channels is a suspicious endeavour. “We have to strengthen the existent institutions and not to spread the poverty. To ask such a sum is an irresponsible act. We don’t even have a clear concept of improving M1, but we plan already to launch a new channel”, stated Ionita. The matter of launching channel Moldova 2 was also discussed a year and a half ago, when ex-president of TRM Ilie Telescu declared in a SB session after talks with the Government “a possible funding for it may occur”.
