More than 200 species of plants and animals that are on the verge of extinction will be included in the third edition of the Red Book of Moldova, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to a communiqué from the Ministry of the Environment, the situation of the flora and fauna in Moldova has worsened over the last 15-20 years and is now critical. The first edition of the Red Book issued in 1978 contained 29 species of animals and 26 species of plants, the second edition of 2001 - 126 species of plants and 116 species of animals, while the third edition will include 213 species of animals and plants. The editorial and typographic works are set to start in August - October 2013.
