Over 200 million lei will be allocated for the modernization of universities, Minister Dan Perciun announced. The Ministry of Education and Research discussed the priorities for higher education with university rectors, IPN reports.
According to a press release of the Ministry of Education, the plan aims to modernize the university infrastructure, promote academic excellence and attract young people to the educational system.
"We are making these investments in order to continue to improve the quality of studies and increase the attractiveness of higher education in Moldova," Perciun said during the meeting with university rectors. The minister added that increasing the number of young people who remain to study at home is an objective for this year.
Jointly with the national universities, the Ministry of Education will carry out a national campaign to inform and promote educational offers. The campaign will take place between March and May and will aim to attract high school and college graduates.
The "Be Pro! Choose to be a teacher!" campaign will continue with the purpose of attracting over 2,000 students to teaching programs and assigning 500 graduates to work in schools.
Dual education programs will also be expanded. In 2025, about 150 students will be admitted to these programs in a number of universities, based on partnerships with 50 companies. At least 5% of the budget-funded places will be allocated for these programs.
