20 trainers will be prepared by Romanian experts to train local teachers

The Ministry of Education will provide a training of trainers (ToT) course for 20 persons, who will then go on to train teachers from Moldovan schools in order to help them meet the professional standards for didactic workers. The ToT course will be conducted by experts from Romania and is part of the Reform of Education in Moldova Project (PRIM), IPN reports.

Deputy Minister of Education Elena Cernei attended the opening event and expressed her confidence that the experience of experts from Romania would be useful for Moldovan teachers. “In order to ensure the quality and efficiency of the educational system, we must have well-trained professionals, who employ modern teaching practices and techniques”, Cernei was quoted in a press release of the Ministry.

Romanian expert Serban Iosifescu, representative of “Professional Consultancy and Personnel Recruitment” company, said that the training of trainers program was preceded by an analysis of the continuous professional training needs of teachers in Moldova. “The teacher is the person who adds value to education. If teaching practices are outdated, all the investment in computers, better material conditions and equipment is useless. An interactive board won’t be of great use when used simply as a usual blackboard. Professional development and lifelong learning is an essential condition for quality”, stressed the expert.

The 20 future trainers have been selected by contest. They will receive their training between August 15 and 26 and then will train school teachers until December 2016. Similar trainings will be organized for school managers.
