The Ministry of Education and Siveco Romania SA on August 4 signed an agreement to implement a pilot project and provide 20 high schools from 15 Moldovan districts with computers, training and digital lessons during the 2010-2011 school year, Info-Prim Neo reports. Minister of Education Leonid Bujor said the agreement envisions the provision of informatics support and implementation of new technologies in education by establishing an electronic platform. A similar agreement was signed in 2006-2007, but was interrupted by the then Government of Moldova. “We want this project to produce the projected results. I hope that after this pilot project, we will sign an agreement for a longer period,” the minister said. Siveco Romania vice president Florian Ciolacu said Siveco is very glad that the proposal to develop this program was accepted. “I hope this project will become a prototype and a proof for the Government and Education Ministry officials so that they accept the initiatives to make this program nationwide,” Florian Ciolacu said. The project will be implemented in 20 schools, where there will be held 150 electronic lessons for math, physics, biology and chemistry in Romanian and in Russian and trained 80 teachers. In 2006-2008, the Ministry of Education in cooperation with Silveco Romania SA ensured the implementation of a computer-assisted education system in 64 education institutions in Moldova. There were trained about 500 teachers.
