2 minors, man drown in Nistru and lakes
Three people, including two minors have drowned in the Nistru river and lakes. The tragedies occurred on Sunday, June 29.
The press officer of the Emergency Service, Liliana Puscasu, has told Info-Prim Neo that in the lake near Ratus village, Criuleni district, a minor of 16 drowned. He went to swim with two friends. Suddenly he started to make signs he was drowning. A friend of his, 17, jumped to succor him, but both panicked and drowned. The third boy called for help and men brought them to the bank. The elder boy survived, as the younger one could not be resuscitated.
A 33-year-old man drowned in the Nistru river near Criuleni town. His corpse was not yet retrieved from the water and is still sought for by life-guards and relatives.
At 20.00, in the lake near Mihaileni village, Rascani disctrict, a boy of 15 drowned, as he went to fish. His corpse has not yet been found.
30 people, including 12 minors, have drowned in Moldova this year. 21 people, of which 8 minors, drowned in June only. Life-guards explain that an important fact is imprudence, leaving children unattended, swimming in inebriation, and the heat.
Liliana Puscasu says 8 fires were recorded on Sunday which destroyed a number of material assets. Industrial goods and stationery burnt in a storehouse in Chisinau, as a VAZ-2101 burnt in Durlesti town, as it was left unattended.
1,005 fires were recorded this year in Moldova, killing 109 people, including 6 children.
