Later this week, Chisinau is going to host the World Dance Championship, Standard Formation, and the International Sportive Dance Competition “Chisinau Open 2008”. The contests are to be attended by over 1,000 pairs of dancers from 15 countries, Info-Prim Neo reports. The president of the Moldovan Sportive Dance Federation and president of the the Sportive Dance Club “Codreanca”, Petru Gozun, told a news conference on Wednesday Moldovan will be represented by a single team at Chisinau Open 2008, the senior category. “We have already very many medals of gold and silver. The moral interest is being lost,” he said. Gozun added “there more teams, but only one participates to make the competition tougher.” Countries as Germany or Russia will sent by two pairs each. Gozun maintains the couple of trainers Petru and Svetlana Gozun are not withdrawing, as earlier rumored, but the coming 3-4 years “young trainers will be heading the Moldovan teams”. He insures they won't be any weaker than his wife and him. The contests will start in the Republic's Palace on Saturday, October 11, and they are supported by the Sports Agency of Moldova, the Chisinau City Hall, the Moldovan Sportive Dance Federation and the Sportive Dance Club “Codreanca”. Dancers and referees from Germany, Poland, Belgium, the Czech Rep., Slovakia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Austria, Romania, Belarus, Ukraine, Russia, Italy, Azerbaijan and Moldova are expected to participate in the contest.
