Seventeen students and two teachers suffered food poisoning after they ate at a restaurant in Chisinau. The 19 persons were taken to the hospital with nausea, fever and diarrhea after they celebrated Christmas at the restaurant. Two of the students were admitted to the intensive care section of the Children’s Infectious Diseases Hospital in Chisinau, IPN reports.

The students study at the Chisinau Lyceum “Dante Alighieri”. According to doctors, the poisoning was medium gave and their state of health is improving. The students had dinner at the restaurant on December 24, but the symptoms of poisoning became more evident the next day.

After the incident, representatives of the Chisinau Public Health Center and the National Food Safety Agency carried out inspections at the given restaurant. Specialists took samples of food products and of blood from three employees. The results of the lab examinations will be made public in five days. It will thus become known what bacteria caused the poisoning.
