19 education institutions in eight districts closed because of cold
Thirteen kindergartens and six secondary schools in eight districts of Moldova stopped work owing to the very cold weather, Deputy Minister of Education Tatiana Poting said in a meeting of the Commission on Emergencies on Saturday, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The institutions were closed because the temperature in classrooms was lower than the norm. The water supply system at a school in Calarasi broke and the institution cannot be heated.
The education process for the first-fourth graders in 90 education institutions, including all the schools of the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia, was suspended.
The lessons in 26 schools were shortened to 30-35 minutes.
