1,800 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines against COVID-19, of the 21,600 doses donated by Romania to the Republic of Moldova, will be delivered to the Transnistrian region, IPN reports, quoting the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection.

Secretary of state at the Ministry Tatiana Zatyk said the plan for distributing the vaccines to all the national health facilities was adopted on March 1. There were taken all the measures for the vaccination to take place in safe conditions and there are all the capacities needed for implementing the national immunization plan.

Epidemiologist Alexei Ceban said that half of the vaccines will be distributed to local public health centers. From there, they will be distributed to vaccination centers. At the first stage, there will be vaccinated the personnel of hospital medical assistance, intensive care and COVID-19 units. Vaccination will be monitored with the assistance of an electronic register.

In a posting on a social networking site, President Maia Sandu said the novel coronavirus does not set demarcation lines. “On the left side, where there are our citizens, the need for vaccination is also big. That’s why a part of the doses of vaccines we received will be distributed to inhabitants of the Transnistrian region, especially for the immunization of frontline health workers,” wrote the official.
