A Chisinau woman aged 18 died yesterday evening in a traffic accident on Lev Tolstoi St, not far from the Cathedral of Saint Martyr Theodore Tiron. The car was driven by the woman's partner aged 23. He is now in the intensive therapy section of the Emergency Hospital. Tudor Capatana, spokesman for the General Police Commissariat, has told Info-Prim Neo that the accident happened in low visibility conditions as there was dense fog. The car crashed at high speed into a safety barrier at the edge of the road. The woman died shortly after eyewitnesses took her out of the car. Her partner was rushed to the Emergency Hospital with fractures, contusion of the thorax and other injuries. Legal action was taken over this case. The young man could be stand trial for non-premeditated murder. As many as 336 people lost their lives in road accidents in Moldova this year.
