The National Army for the first time trained 18 service members to transport dangerous goods, including munitions, in accordance with the national and international standards, IPN reports.
The service members were trained by a group of experts of the Ministry of Defense of Germany within a project financed by this country. In the ceremony held to hand over the graduation certificates, Germany’s Ambassador Iulia Monar said the goal of the project is to increase the population’s safety and to strengthen the capacities of the armed forces of Moldova. Germany will continue to assist in implementing the programs initiated by Moldova in this field.
In the three-week course, the service members studied the procedures and norms of packing and loading hazardous goods, techniques for marking vehicles and the actions required in case of an accident. The driver’s license they got will enable them to transport hazardous goods not only in Moldova, but also in 50 states that are members of the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road.
Five new trucks with trailer to the value of €1.5 million will be donated within the project. The vehicles will be delivered to Moldova by the end of this year.
