18 projects awarded at Gala Moldova Eco-Energetica 2013 Ceremony

Eighteen projects to promote and use nontraditional sources of energy were awarded at the Gala Moldova Eco-Energetica 2013 Awards Ceremony. Sixty contenders have taken part in the contest this year, IPN reports. Attending the award ceremony, Prime Minister Iurie Leanca said that Moldova joined the Energy Community and intends to benefit from the status of member of an integrated European energy market. The production of renewable sources will bring multiple benefits to the people, including additional sources of livelihood, new jobs, increased thermal comfort and reduced negative effects on the environment.

The prize in the category “Best Project in Solar Energy” went to the Chisinau Oncology Institute. 30% of the energy consumed by the Institute is obtained from solar energy. The second prize in this category was awarded to Boris Grama - a resident of Hartopul Mic village of Criuleni district. The man installed at home a photovoltaic system and uses the obtained energy for household needs, while the surplus is supplied to the public network.

The winner in the “Solar Thermal Energy” category is the Chisinau cleanup company “Autosalubritate”. The inhabitant of Popeasca village of Stefan Voda district Anton Port received the prize for the “Best Project in Wind Energy, while the Theoretical Lyceum “Elimul Nou” of Ialoveni obtained the prize for the “Best Project in Geothermal Energy”, being the first lyceum of the country that implemented such a project.

Seven prizes were awarded in the cattery “Best Project in Biomass Energy”. “Green Farm” from Causeni town and “Junicart-Com” from Balti municipality received a prize for producing liquid and solid biofuel. Two prizes for producing thermal energy went to “Polimer Gaz Conducte” from Falestii Noi, Falesti, and the mayor’s office of Dumbravita, Sangerei The company “Moldagrotehnica” won the prize for assembling and installing afferent equipment for producing bioenergy. “Sudzucker-Moldova” and “Tevas Grup SRL” received prizes for producing gaseous fuel from waste.

The other winners are: Best Energy Efficiency Project: Linella SRL, Dina Cociug SRL, Tatarauca Veche village of Soroca district; Best Initiative of Public Communication and Awareness: FurioSnails; Best Educational Initiative: Continuous Formation Institute; Best Initiative of the Youth: Young Inventors’ Club.

Moldova Eco-Energetica the largest contest of the most successful initiatives in the area of renewables and energy efficiency in Moldova. It aims to support the most important initiatives in the efficient production, transmission, distribution and use of energy from renewable sources, as well as in the development and promotion of advanced technology and innovations in the area of energy efficiency and renewables. Moldova Eco Energetica is organized by the Ministry of Economy and the Agency for Energy Efficiency upon the initiative of Moldova Energy and Biomass Project, financed by the European Union and co-financed and implemented by UNDP.
