Petrocub started the race for defending the trophy of Moldova’s Football Cup in Sărata Galbenă, where the team was founded. The team trained by Lilian Popescu beat 4-1 FCM Ungheni, which ranks second in Division B, IPN reports.
Sergiu Plătica scored a hat-trick, while Iaser Țurcan scored the fourth goal. “We were aware we will meet a team that will struggle on the field and it happened so. I congratulate the opponent team on its game,” said the coach of Petrocub Lilian Popescu.
In the 1/8 finals, Petrocub plays FC Florești, which defeated Zimbru 1-0. The other matches of the 1/8 finals ended as follows: Sporting - Sf.Gheorghe 0-4, Speranța - Dacia-Buiucani 2-1, Dinamo-Auto - Sokol 13-0, Sheriff - Iskra 2-1. The matches of the quarterfinals will be played on April 20 and 21, 2021.
