The EU Delegation to Moldova will publish a call for proposals under the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights worth € 1.7 million with a focus on all forms of discrimination and promotion of tolerance, IPN reports.
According to a press release from the European Commission, the call will be made following the fourth round of human rights dialogue between Moldova and the European Union that was held in Chisinau. The talks focused on: fight against impunity and ill-treatment, freedom of expression, fight against all forms of discrimination, and the rights of children.
The EU took note of Moldova’s dedication to comply with its commitments under international law and under its bilateral cooperation framework with the European Union, such as the Visa Liberalization Action Plan. The EU reiterated its readiness to continue supporting Moldova in this process.
In a communiqué, the Justice Ministry informs that acting Deputy Minister of Justice Vladimir Grosu, who took part in the dialogue on behalf of Moldova, stressed the importance of the reforms initiated in the area of human rights, saying justice must be functional and applied correctly. Among the most visible successes, he mentioned the changes to the Penal and Criminal Procedure Codes and the progress made in fighting discrimination and homophobe manifestations.
