17 medical units have been opened as part of 12 family doctor centers and 5 diagnostic centers in Chisinau to provide medical assistance during hot weather, Info-Prim Neo reports. On June 18, Health Department head Luminita Suveica to the the City Hall's ordinary meeting that the medical units are established at the ground floor, in the hall of each institution. The medical assistants and healthcare workers on duty are ready to offer first aid whenever required. As yet, nobody suffering from sun stroke has sought medical assistance in those 17 medical units. This is why the establishment of mobile medical units on the city's streets is not yet a priority. Luminita Suveica recommended to spend more time indoors during hot weather, especially in case of people with poor health condition, and to avoid walks in the sun. “It is important to protect the head and the face from the sun with a hat, an umbrella or a scarf. Wear cotton-made, light-colored and lightweight clothing. Drink plenty of water and juice”, Luminita Suveica advised. In the context of high temperatures, Green Spaces head Eliferii Haruta advised the people who like to cool down at ponds in the city to be cautious. Last week alone 3 people drowned in the city's lakes and 32 others were rescued, including 8 minors. Authorities warn that swimming in the city's lakes is forbidden. Meteorologists issued a yellow-code advisory for hot weather. Throughout the week, from June 18 to June 23, high temperatures will be around +35 Celsius degrees.
