The health authorities sound the alarm following the worsening of the epidemiological situation. As many as 1,610 new cases of COVID-19 and 23 associated deaths were reported on February 24, IPN reports.
According to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, the number of infections with the novel coronavirus in Moldova exceeded 180,000 by now, with 11,341 being active cases.
Tatiana Zatîc, secretary of state at the Ministry, said the number of new cases of COVID-19 increased considerably compared with the previous days. There were done 4,783 tests, 4,444 of which were primary ones. Of the 1,610 new cases, 743 were recorded in the municipality of Chisinau. The situation is similar to that witnessed last December. The number of cured persons is much lower than of persons confirmed with COVID-19.
Of the 291 patients with COVID-19 who are in the hospital in a series state, 53 wet put on a ventilator.
A number of 85 healthcare workers were confirmed with the novel coronavirus today, taking the total number of infected medical employees to 16,333. Eighty-eight healthcare workers succumbed to COVID-19 so far. Over 9,000 children and more than 800 pregnant women have been diagnosed with COVID-19 until now.
The official urged to obey the protective measures and the imposed restrictions as the situation can be changed this way.
