160,000 lei collected in trolleybus fines

The ticket inspector of the Chisinau Electric Transport Network (RTEC) applied over 5400 fines this year, which brought the company more than 160,000 lei, Info-Prim Neo learned from the head of RTEC’s inspection and revision service Ion Popovschi. The number of 10 lei and of 50 lei fines was equal. The head of the inspection and revision service says that almost all the passengers caught without a ticket preferred to pay the fine without waiting until formal administrative proceedings are initiated against them. The last time fines for taking the trolleybus without a ticket were increased in 2010. Students are fined 10 lei, and other groups of passengers are fined 50 lei. If they refuse to pay the fine on the spot, proceedings are initiated and the fine rises to 75 lei. If they don’t pay this fine within 72 hours, then they may be sued and penalized with 200 lei.
