The employees of the budget-funded institutions and authorities and of public health facilities who will get infected with COVID-19 while in the line of duty will benefit from a lump sum of 16,000 lei, as the Commission for Exceptional Situations decided on April 6, IPN reports.

Under the decision, the lump sums will be paid from the Government’s intervention fund. Income tax, mandatory state social insurance contributions and mandatory health issuance premiums are not paid on these lump sums.

A state of emergency was instituted in Moldova until May 15. As many as 965 persons became infected with COVID-19 in Moldova so far. Nineteen of these lost the battle with the disease.
