A boy aged 16 drowned in a lake in Rascani district of Chisinau on May 31. After the school year end festivity, he went to the lake together with classmates. The assistance of rescuers wasn’t needed. The body was recovered by passersby.

According to press officer of the Chisinau Police Division Natalia Stati, the young man told his classmates that he wants to swim the lake across. He entered the water and shortly disappeared under it. It is not known if the young people drank alcoholic beverages. A medical-legal examination will be performed to determine this.

This is the fourth case of drowning in Moldova so far this year.
