Sixteen students from the municipality of Chisinau were awarded at a contest of essays, projects, posters and videos on the theme “Road of the Water” that was staged on the occasion of 20 years of the foundation of SA Apa-Canal Chisinau. The contest was held between May 1 and June 1 and the winners were awarded on the International Children’s Day, Info-Prim Neo reports. Apa-Canal Chisinau organized such a contest for the first time. It involved over 60 students of the lyceums “Ion Creanga”, “Gheorghe Asachi”, “Mihai Viteazul” and others. The participants presented works centering on the theme of water and its role in the humans’ life and in economy. The authors of the best works received diplomas and money awards. The contest was held within the education project “Valuing water, you value life” that was launched by SA Apa-Canal Chisinau. The diplomas and prizes were handed over by the company’s director general Constatin Becciev and the chairman of the administration board Oleg Cernei. “We prepared smaller and larger prizes and we are glad that our contest attracted so many children,” said Constantin Becciev. “We were impressed by the results of the contest, the children’s imagination and the ideas presented by them.” A group of students proposed a project to process the mud at the wastewater treatment station so as to obtain biogas that can be used by the station as fuel. They said they will save the money and will use it to continue their studies at universities. The Open Doors Day was organized at Apa-Canal Chisinau within the same project. The participants visited the water pumping station in Vadul lui Voda, the wastewater treatment station and the water cleaning station in Chisinau.
