A sum of 1.5 million lei was allocated for organizing and holding the first round of elections to choose the Governor of Gagauzia. The expenditure estimate was approved by the People’s Assembly of the region on February 16, IPN reports, quoting the Comrat news portal gagauzinfo.md.

Deputy chairman of the People’s Assembly Alexandru Tarnavschii said that 400,000 lei is intended for the region’s Electoral Commission, while 114,000 lei for the district electoral councils. About 1 million lei will be spent on setting up 63 polling places. 

83% of the financial resources allocated for the elections will go to pay salaries to the electoral personnel.

The first round of the elections in Gagauzia will take place on March 22, while the second round, if it is necessary – on April 5.
