A man from Ungheni is suspected of asking for €15,000 for influencing a judge of the Rascani Court of Chisinau to pass a favorable judgment in relation to a person tried for swindle and theft, IPN reports.

According to the National Anticorruption Center, the man was caught in the act of taking €10,000 of the asked sum, which was to be transmitted to the judge. The suspect gave the money voluntarily to the anticorruption officers.

The man was placed under arrest for 72 hours initially. He faces three to seven years in jail and a fine of 80,000 to 120,000 lei for traffic of influence.
