1500 places in colleges remain unoccupied
After the second round of admissions, 1515 places in colleges remained unoccupied, Info-Prim Neo learned from a press release of the Ministry of Education.
1248 places were meant for secondary school graduates (85 tuition-free places and 1163 full-tuition places), 267 for high school graduates (118 tuition-free and 149 full-tuition).
Overall, only 12 colleges completed their enrollment plan, namely the Railway Technical College in Balti, ASEM’s National College of Commerce, five pedagogical colleges and five medicine colleges.
Most of the unoccupied places, relative to the offered number, were in private colleges. Only 629 of 1105 places were occupied. Among the state colleges, free places remained at the Polytechnic College in Chisinau (161), the Construction College in Hancesti (123), the Construction College in Chisinau (63), the Technological College (45), UTM’s Technical College (44), the College of Microelectronics and Computing Technology (35) and the Transports College (33). In the five colleges managed by the Ministry of Agriculture, 218 places remained unoccupied.
The least popular specializations were radio electronic household appliances, radio electronic systems, machines, tools and instruments, the materials processing technology, procurements, the technology of milk and dairy products. There were also unoccupied places for the specializations in telecommunications, civilian, industrial and farming constructions, mail communications and the wood processing technology.
According to the admission plan, 11119 places were planned for the 41 state colleges and 5 private ones, including 5385 tuition-free and 5733 full-tuition.
