A consignment of 14,400 Vaxzevria COVID-19 vaccine doses made by AstraZeneca was delivered to Moldova and was received by the National Public Health Agency. The doses were donated through the agency of the COVAX Facility and will be distributed proportionally to all the national vaccination centers, IPN reports.
According to the Ministry of Health, in total Moldova so far received over 584.000 Vaxzevria vaccine doses, more than 122,000 of which through the COVAX Facility.
COVAX is co-led by the Vaccine Alliance Gavi, the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) and WHO. Its aim is to accelerate the development and manufacture of COVID-19 vaccines, and to guarantee fair and equitable access for every country in the world.
About 1.784 million COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in Moldova to date.
