The Republic of Moldova purchased another 140,000 multiplex tests that will allow testing persons for COVID-1 and for flu. The tests were bought at a cost of 12 million lei. During the next few days, the tests will be distributed to medical institutions, Minister of Health Viorica Dumbrăveanu stated in a news conference at the end of tenure, IPN reports.
The minister said the first consignment of the 300,000 tests was supplied on December 30. The tests were bought through the agency of the World Bank project. At the current stage, there are no problems related to the provision of laboratories with tests.
Outgoing Prime Minister Ion Chicu, in the same news conference, said there are all the chances for Moldova to receive COVID-19 vaccines produced in the West in the first half of next month.
The officials said the number of cases of COVID-19 has decreased and the pandemic situation in Moldova stabilized. The fatality rate remains at 2%. The hospitals are 67% filled. 70% of the places in intensive care units intended for patients with COVID-19 are occupied.
