Fourteen political parties and an electoral bloc can begin the election campaign that precedes the November 30 parliamentary elections. On October 10, the Central Election Commission (CEC) registered the parties that submitted the documents on October 3 as election runners. The preliminary order in the ballots was decided by a draw, IPN reports.

The list is topped by the Democratic Party. It is followed by the Christian Democratic People’s Party (2), the People’s Force Party (3), the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (4) and the Liberal Reformist Party (5).

The next on the ballot is the Communist Reformist Party of Moldova (6). CEC member Alexandru Simionov suggested suspending the procedure for registering this party as some of the signatures of the party’s candidates for the post of MP are suspected of being forged. But his proposal was rejected.

The next parties registered are: the People’s Movement “Antimafie” (7); the National Liberal Party (8), the Party of Socialists of Moldova (9); the Electoral Bloc “Moldova’s Choice – the Customs Union” (10);  the “Democracy at Home” Party (11); the People’s Party of the Republic of Moldova (12); the Communist Party of the Republic of Moldova (13); the Liberal Party (14), and the Party “Renaissance” (15).

CEC president Iurie Ciocan said they established that the lists presented by the political parties include two persons put on probation. Under the Election Code, the persons with a criminal record who committed offenses on purpose cannot run in the elections. The Commission thus asked for additional information about the two persons from the competent bodies.

According to Iurie Ciocan, 171 of all the candidates were included in the Register of Criminal and Criminological Information. They also asked for additional information from the competent bodies so as to determine the status of these persons.

On October 13, the CEC will examine the documents required for registration submitted by the political party “Patria” (“Motherland”) on October 6.
