Another 14 cases of infection with the novel coronavirus were confirmed in Moldova on March 21 and the number of infections thus rose to 80. Eleven new cases are of local transmission and three are of import, IPN reports.
After the March 21 meeting of the Single Command Center for managing the crisis caused by COVID-19, Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbrăveanu said the three persons brought the infection from Ukraine and France. The Transnistrian region reported the first two cases of COVID-19.
Two persons infected themselves at a burial ceremony that involved a person who came from the UK. Two teens also got the infection.
Viorica Dumbrăveanu also provided details about the 20 students from the dorm of the Technical University of Moldova who were admitted to the Clinical Hospital of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection. Two more students were hospitalized today. These tested negative for the virus and will go home, but will not return to the dorm. The other persons from the dorm will stay by one in the room and will be supervised by doctors of the primary medical assistance service. If need be, the emergency medical assistance service will also become involved.
The minister noted that the first woman diagnosed with the novel coronavirus in Moldova is considered cured, but remains at the National Clinical Hospital owing to other health problems. Two infected persons have been thus cured so far.
Prime Minister Ion Chicu said the Sunday services at churches will be held in the open air by ensuring the social distance between parishioners. The police will monitor the situation.
