A number of 139 infections with the novel coronavirus were confirmed in Moldova on May 9, with 25 of these being among healthcare workers. All are local transmission cases, IPN reports.
According to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, most of the cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Chisinau and in the Transnistrian region. Fewer cases were reported in Cahul, Bălți, Ungheni, Ceadâr-Lunga, and Soroca.
Also, a woman aged 66 from Orhei lost the battle with COVID-19. She was admitted to the National Clinic Hospital on April 30. She suffered from chronic hepatitis, overweight and arterial hypertension. This is the ninth case of death today. The death toll thus rose to 161.
As many as 4,867 persons became infected with COVID-19 in Moldova by now.
