As many as 13,000 trees were planted on Saturday, April 12, in the Chisinau municipality as part of the activities occasioned by the National Greening Day entitled “A Tree for Our Everlasting.” Other 9,800 trees and 10,000 roses were planted during the ending week, the Green Spaces Association head Eliferii Haruta has told Info-Prim Neo. Most of the trees were planted in Ciocana district – 6,000, in the Muncesti Park in Botanica district – 2,000 and in the Nistru Park in Vadul lui Voda – 2,800 trees. Acacia trees were planted especially in places affected by land slides. The green areas have been prepared for the summer season, by gathering dry leaves and by painting benches. During the week 5,000 volunteers joined g the planting works, while 2,000 people benevolently planted trees on Sunday. Eliferii Haruta says businesses took an active part in the volunteer works and even bought trees. Almost 30,000 trees and 15,000 bushes were planted in Chisinau last year.
