Rescuers took the body of a boy aged 13 out of an irrigation reservoir situated close to Sofia village of Drochia district. The boy and two friends of his of the same age went swimming. He entered the reservoir and dived in, but didn’t come out, IPN reports.
According to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, the other two minors who remained on the bank hurried to bring assistance. A man went into the water and looked for him, but unsuccessfully. The called out rescuers found the body and took this out.
The Inspectorate warns not to allow minors to go swimming unsupervised and to use recreational spaces with pools that include rescue stations.
Eighteen persons drowned in Moldova’s rivers and ponds so far this year. Two of the victims were minors.
