Thirteen patients diagnosed with COVID-19 are in critical condition at the National Clinical Hospital in Chisinau. The state of the other patients treated at strategic institutions is medium grave and satisfactory, Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbrăveanu was quoted by IPN as saying in a press briefing.
According to the minister, of the 231 infections with COVID-19, 58 were imported, while 173 persons got infected inside the country. Most of the cases of local transmission were recorded in Chisinau (93), Hâncești (23) and Soroca (23).
Ten cases were reported in the Transnistrian region. These patients are treated are health facilities there and also at institutions on the right bank of the Nistru.
Viorica Dumbrăveanu said the Bălți Municipal Hospital and the Căușeni District Hospital
already started to accept persons suspected of having COVID-19.
Of the 231 persons diagnosed with COVID-19 in Moldova so far, 11 persons got cured, while two died.
At world level, COVID-19 claimed about 30,800 lives. Over 10,000 deaths were recorded in Italy. The death toll in Spain rose to 6,000, while in China, where the coronavirus outbreak began, at 3,300.
