12.8 kilograms of undeclared caviar at the Palanca Customs post

A commercial batch of caviar, weighing nearly 13 kilograms, was discovered by customs inspectors at the Palanca checkpoint. The goods were not declared in accordance with the law, and the bus driver, a 52-year-old man, is now under investigation.

Contacted by IPN, Chief Inspector Tatiana Sompol, spokesperson for the Customs Service, specified that individuals are allowed to transport only a small jar of caviar for personal use, or even two, provided they declare them. Authorities intervene when hidden and undeclared goods are discovered in quantities intended for commercial activity.

The 32 jars of caviar, each containing 400 grams, were found during a physical inspection of passengers' luggage on a bus traveling the Odesa-Chisinau route.

According to international regulations, sturgeon caviar can only be transported in quantities of up to 125 grams per person, with any excess requiring a special permit.

The goods were confiscated, and the driver faces administrative penalties.
