127 children, 68 girls and 59 boys, were born in Moldova in the first 24 hours of 2015. The newborns include one couple of twins, delivered at the Mother&Child Center.

Mother&Child Center director Stefan Gatcan has told IPN that the number of newborns is increasing. About 39,600 children were born in 2014, by one thousand more than in 2013.

He added that traditionally during the months of December and January, more girls are born.

Last year, there were born 456 couples of twins, 21 sets of triplets and one set of quadruplets.
