12,000 children spent vacations in Chisinau summer camps
About 12,000 children spent vacations in Chisinau Municipality's summer camps from the beginning of summer. Another few thousand will rest there in the last part of the season between August 15 and 27, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The councilor of Chisinau’s division for education, youth and sports (DGETS) Tatiana Botnaru declared during the City Hall operative meeting that 18,000 children were expected to spend their holidays in camps this summer. The rest will go there in the last part of the season.
Tatiana Botnaru said that the camps’ activity was monitored by the specialized municipal divisions, including the Center for Public Health (CSP) of the capital and General Police Commissariat and that the inspections didn’t reveal any serious problems.
The CSP representative said that the Center’s teams of specialists inspected the camps weekly and evaluated the conditions within the camps. No serious violations were encountered. Some minor issues were found, but solved swiftly.
Lilian Carp, head of the Mayor’s Cabinet, remarked the improvement since last year, when several children got intoxicated and one of the holiday camps was closed. “We didn’t even contract the holiday camps that didn’t have the necessary conditions and didn’t meet our requirements so as to avoid any possible unpleasant situations”, said Lilian Carp.
Mayor of the capital Dorin Chirtoaca requested a detailed report and a general evaluation of children’s recreation after the season ends. This will help compare the situation with that of previous years and improve it in future.
This summer, the Chisinau Municipal Council allocated over 21 million lei for the organizations of summer holidays for children.
