Twelve TV channels remain with their license suspended even after the lifting of the state of emergency. The decision to keep the licenses suspended was taken by the Strategic Investment Committee, which asked for such a measure until it becomes clear who the effective owners of these posts are, the Government’s spokesman Daniel Vodă told a press conference.
“The authorities abide by the priority that the presented information should be objective and correct, and the stations that misinform or aim to manipulate and promote an agenda, including a foreign one – I refer to influences, including from outside, which affect national security - promote propaganda and misinformation should not have the possibility to infect the minds of our citizens,” said Daniel Vodă.
The Commission for Exceptional Situations suspended the licenses of 12 television stations for the period of the state of emergency, for a year. These are: Primul în Moldova, TV6, Orhei TV, Accent TV, NTV Moldova and RTR Moldova, Orizont TV, ITV, Prime, Publika, Canal 2 and Channel 3. The state of emergency in Moldova was lifted on December 31, 2023.
