As many as 12 education institutions have been closed owing to the high number of cases of flu and viral infections there. The Ministry of Education announced that 11 nursery schools with a total number of almost 2,000 children and a secondary school with 278 students suspended work on March 3, IPN reports.
Most of the closed nurseries are situated in the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia. One nursery is located in Taraclia district, another one in Criuleni district, while the secondary school is based in Gaidarji village of Ceadir Lunga district.
The Ministry of Education issued an ordinance for the district and municipal education divisions, urging stepping up the anti-epidemic measures in a move to reduce the infection risk. The seven education institutions closed earlier for the same reason resumed work.
According to the Ministry of Health, 143,000 cases of acute upper respiratory tract infections and over 700 cases of flu were recorded so far this year. As a result of flu complications, seven people, including a girl aged 12, died.
